An Introductory Tutorial Workshop in Ontology

Naumburg, Germany, April 17–20, 2002

The workshop will take place in the Hotel Zur Alten Schmiede (Hotel at the Old Smith) in Naumburg, which lies half way between Leipzig and Weimar in the wine-growing region of the Saale-Unstrut River. (Naumburg is noted also for its Nietzsche Museum.)


Participation in the workshop is by prior registration only. The reservation fee is 75 for those who register before March 1st, and 125 thereafter. Registration includes all workshop materials, lunches, coffee and snacks on each of the three days, together with the reception on April 17 and dinner on April 21. Single rooms in the Hotel Zur Alten Schmiede are 51, including breakfast and all taxes.  

The workshop is organized under the auspices of the Institute for Formal Ontology and Medical Information Science of the University of Leipzig as part of its project to build a general ontological language for applications in the field of medical information science. The workshop is co-sponsored by the University of Leipzig Graduate Programme in Knowledge Representation and by the Department of Philosophy of the University at Buffalo.   

Scholarships to cover local expenses are available for students with a demonstrated interest in ontology and its applications.
